“Faith, Forever, and the Perfect ‘I Do'” – How Steve Siglin Helps Couples Make Wedding Magic

By Coach Garfield, Contributing Editor – sistazas magazines

Faith Forever and the Perfect I DoLet’s talk about weddings: the nerves, the joy, the planning, the “Is this really happening?” energy. Now imagine having someone by your side who’s been part of over 10,000 weddings (yes, you read that right), and still shows up with heart, purpose, and a prayer for every single one. That someone is Steve Siglin, founder of Officially Yours Weddings, and he’s been making “I do” moments unforgettable for almost 50 years.

“I’ve been married to my best friend for nearly 50 years,” Steve says with a soft grin.  “We’ve been together 52. And every ceremony I do is a reminder of what love can build.”

From DJ Booth to Wedding Blessings
Steve didn’t start out intending to be a wedding officiant. In fact, he was originally spinning music as a wedding DJ. But somewhere between the love songs and the slow dances, something clicked.  “I realized I wasn’t just playing music, I was witnessing people’s love stories unfold right in front of me,” he says. “And I wanted to do more than press play. I wanted to speak into those moments.” So he followed that nudge. He stepped into the role of officiant, and before long, Officially Yours was born.

Every Ceremony, Built Around You
Let’s be real, no one wants a copy-paste wedding. That’s why Steve created a signature approach that’s part ceremony, part collaboration, and 100% personal.  “We have this workbook we give couples,” he explains. “It helps them shape a ceremony that reflects their story, their values, and what matters most to them.”

One of his favorite tools? The Faith Meter.  Here’s how it works: Couples rate how much (or how little) faith-based content they want in their ceremony, from completely secular (zero) to deeply spiritual (five). Whether you want Scripture, a simple blessing, or none of the above, Steve makes sure the tone matches your vision.

“It’s not about us,” he says. “It’s about them. Our job is to honor their journey and meet them where they are.”

From 100 to 600 Weddings a Year (And Still Counting)
What started as a few weddings a month has grown into something much bigger. Today, Steve and his team officiate over 600 weddings a year, each one thoughtfully prepared and uniquely delivered.

“No two love stories are the same,” he says. “So no two ceremonies should be either.”

Even with all that growth, Steve’s heart hasn’t changed. He’s still searching for new officiants, not just professionals, but people with the heart to serve, to listen, and to make every couple feel seen.

Moments That Stay With You
When asked about the most unforgettable ceremonies, Steve doesn’t hesitate. One memory still gets him: a small, quiet wedding for a couple from Connecticut, marked by grace and resilience.

“Those are the ones that stay in your spirit,” he says. “When love shows up in the middle of life’s hardest places, it hits different.”

For Steve, marriage isn’t just a legal bond; it’s a sacred covenant. And every ceremony he leads is a chance to help couples start strong, stay grounded, and walk forward with intention.

“Dog’s Feet.” The Power of the Pause
Now here’s a little nugget we love.  Steve shares a piece of wisdom inspired by none other than Alfred Hitchcock.  Apparently, the filmmaker once directed Shirley MacLaine with the cue: “Dog’s feet, dog’s feet.” Translation? Pause

Steve took that to heart.

“In the middle of vows, or wedding prep, or even a tough conversation, just pause,” he says. “Breathe. Take in your partner. Be in the moment.”  He practices that pause in everyday life too, especially with his wife.

A simple example, he shares, is how he and his wife tour museums together.  “First off, we both love them. But I’m a visual guy, I glance at the exhibits and’ stop at the ones that catch my interest.  My wife takes in every single exhibit and every word. And trust me, there are a lot of words in a museum,” he laughs “But l’ve learned to slow down… to see the world through her eyes. It’s made me a better officiant, and more importantly, a better husband.”

For the Brides Balancing it All
To our sistazas juggling work, love, and wedding planning, especially our nurses, teachers, and entrepreneurs, Steve has this to say:  “Don’t rush it. Surround yourself with vendors who really listen. Let your ceremony set the tone for your marriage, not just the day.”  What’s Next for Steve and Officially Yours?  Steve has big dreams: expanding Officially Yours nationwide, training new officiants, and developing digital tools that help couples create sacred, meaningful ceremonies, wherever they are.

But his mission remains the same: to honor love, lift faith, and make every moment matter.
